Our Research

Sharing our cricketing knowledge.

We want to share research that has already been undertaken by members of KCHT into all aspects of cricket in Kent. We also want to let you know what projects we are currently working on and those “on our radar” for future attention which will feature here in due course.

To help us make more research available here entirely free of charge, why not join the Heritage Trust or make a small donation towards the work we do.

If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider allowing us to claim GiftAid on your contribution.

Listed below are items currently available to view by clicking on the relevant button. We hope you will find them interesting in their own right or help in any research you would like to undertake.

Please note that the Kent Cricket Heritage Trust retain the copyright for all the information you will find here.  We are happy for you to use our research work on the understanding that your research is not for financial gain, KCHT are given due formal acknowledgement, and that you share the results with us.

If you have any questions on this, please contact us for guidance.

As ever, in any work comprising numerous scores, biographies, place names and dates, the odd error is possible. Please let us know if you can add to or correct anything that you find.

All items uploaded so far compiled by Ian Phipps.

Kent Club & Ground Scores 1899 to 1914

Kent Young Players Sub-Committee Trials Book

Covering the period 1896 to 1956, this register has details of over 1,300 young men who had a trial for Kent. It records addresses, dates of birth, qualification rights and comments (sometimes quite brutal!) on their cricketing ability.  We have recently transcribed the Book and the results can be viewed here.

Kent Cricket Pre 1800

We have details of over 900 matches played throughout the county between 1709 and 1799, which you will find detailed here. Some games feature complete scorecards, others just identifying the competing teams, venues and dates.

Early Women’s cricket in Kent

We have an extensive list of matches (some with full scores) played by women’s teams in Kent, the first known match being in the late 18th Century. With online newspaper archives constantly being expanded, we would hope to update this list on a regular basis.

Cumulative Record Wicket Partnerships

Here you will find the porgression of partnership reords for all wickets in Kent’s first-class matched through the years.
